Today we are going to have a look at the Infantry Upgrades for Dystopian Legions. As these are only 2 minis per box so I will cover all 4 sets together.
Each Force has some kind of Support mini that can be 'added' to thier Infantry Sections. These range from Drummers that can help with Command Tests to Medics that can lower the amount of Life Points lost by the Section.

Kingdom of Britannia Drummer Boys
He cant attack or get hurt but helps with Command Tests and his special card boosts certain ranged attacks.
As you can see above, the front of the box has a stunning full colour render of one of the Drummers.
The back of the box gives a little bit of background on the models and shows the renders of the 2 sculpts included. As I have said before, I really like the fact Spartan put renders on the packs instead of pro-painted models. This lets you see the exact details instead of a paint scheme drawing your eyes away from certain parts.
Inside the box you get 2 Drummers boys, 2 game cards and 2 plastic 30mm bases.
The game cards can but used to swap with cards already in your game deck to add more tactical options when army building. You can see more about this in the ToaTS Rules Summary
The 2 minis in the box are similar but the are 2 different sculpts. This is a nice thing as it means almost NO repeated minis in a force.
The detail on the coats is amazing. Every loop and rope can be seen very clearly.
They do both have a slight mould lines running around them. This isnt usualy too bad but in the top picture you can see it runs down the face of the left Drummer. It wont be a problem for anybody with a little modelling experience and a small file though. As for things like tabs, vents and flash, the rest of the model is perfectly clean.
I think these are stunning pieces and would highly recommend them to any Dystopian Legions player. Even historical gamers out there as they dont have any 'steampunk' details on them.
8 out of 10 Badger Points.
Prussian Empire Army Medics
His game card can reduce the Life Points taken during an attack and he reduces the Successes during other attacks while he survives.
The front shows the usual colour render and the back again gives a little info about models, the box contents and model renders.
In the box you get 2 game cards, 2 bases and 2 Medics. The STAR and Command section on the cards lets you know when in a turn the card can be used and how many points it costs to use it.
The Medics are 2 very different minis. One in a prepared pose sporting a Prussian helmet and the other in more of an action pose. Both are holding what looks to be some sort of injector.
Very impressed with them. They fit the look of the Section but also stand out enough to be noticed. Really looking forward to fielding these soon.
9 out of 10 Badger Points from me
Federated States of America Forward Observers
The box is the usual Spartan standard. Detailed renders and information.
In the box your get 2 different Observers plus the bases and game cards.
Two very different poses again and the only Upgrade model with more than 1 part.
The right Observer is lining up a Motar Strike and calling it in.
The Forward Observers are an impressive pair. In the game they are going to be amazing.
9 out of 10 Badger Points
Empire of the Blazing Sun Army Medics
The box once again is of a very high standard. Full renders taken direct from the models and all the info you need
In the box you get 2 models, bases and 2 Game Cards.
These Game Cards help out with the armies Morale
The EBS Medic model are similar but different enough to tell apart. One waiting and one trying to dig out a remedy
Almost no extar little vents or tabs apart from on the bottom of the base. Great to see on such highly detailed minis.
They do have a mould line running around them but is smaller than it looks in the picture. A very quick file and you wouldnt even know it was there.
Although the Empire of the Blazing Sun isnt really my cuppa, I do like the Medics. They fit the look and the theme really well.
8 out of 10 Badger Points.
Price
You can pick up each of these boxes for a bargin of £6.75 at The Troll Trader. You cant get ONE mini for that in several games!
Each of these 4 sets is great in its own way. They help the forces differently, stand out and keep the feel and theme of each army.
I would recommend picking up the box if you are considering playing the game.
You can find the full rules for each Support model HERE
So there we have it.
A quick run over the Support options for all 4 forces.

Hendybadger awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Maybe it's me being Americentric, but I like the FSA observers. I like that they look like Civil War era union soldiers. It's something overlooked in most Victorian style sci-fi. Just neat design.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I love the overall look of the FSA in Dystopian Legions
