New Releases for Dystopian Legions and Wars
The Spartan Games newsletter has been sent out today with some stunning models in it for Dystopian Legions and Wars. All due out Dec 17th
Russian Coalition Rudnitsky Class Repair Ship (left), Prussian Empire Konigsberg Class Battlecruiser (centre), Empire of the Blazing Sun Onryo Class Scout Gyro (right)
Republique of France L'Arman 'Char 1C' Class Medium Tank (top left), Alma Class Frigate (top right), Kingdom of Britannia Lord Hood Class Battlecruiser (bottom left), Federated States of America Reno Class Medium Tank (bottom right)
Being a Republique of France player I am over the moon to see the Alma skimming frigate appear so soon
I will be picking up at least 2 full squadrons of these no matter what the rules are like.
I want a full skimming fleet for land or sea. Already have the large and medium so its just the small to get.
I do like the look of the French tank but I'm personally not into the land forces of the game. Which is why I want the skimmer fleet!
The new Battle Cruisers look interesting. Some serious medium sized firepower! My wife has the Brits so I'm sure I will face the Hood soon enough and my main gaming buddy runs Prussians so the Konigsberg will be faced as well. I may even end up with a couple myself as I look into the Prussians as a second fleet.
The Russian Repair Ship could be a key piece in the games. Keeping your ships afloat is a great thing! (obviously) I just don't really like the look of the round 'bumper car' ships.
The Empire new Scout Gyro looks much more impressive than previous Gyros. Much more aggressive than looking like it just hovers there.
All in all this is a great wave for Dystopian Wars. Everybody gets something that's useful and fits with the style of their chosen faction.
Next up is a whole load of Dystopian Wars goodies!
Empire of the Blazing Sun Alchemist Tenegawa and Takera Isamu (top right), Federated States of America Major Beauregard and Clockadile (bottom), Prussian Empire Professor Wulfgang Gustardt and Siegfried the Minion (top left), Kingdom of Britannia Colonel MacDonald (centre)
What a selection of characters! Some of the weirdest and wildest you could imagine.
I'm going to be running British and Russians so the Colonel in the steam powered wheel chair will be the first to pick up. Could be look any more British? What what!
The Prussian addition is just as good in my eyes. A classical crazy composer with tesla 'Spidey' web-shooters and an Igor assistant. Wonderful!
America gets a CLOCKODILE! How cool? (how random?) Cant wait to see what that can do. Then you have the 'Wolverine' style Samurai for the Empire. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him.
Specialist and Infantryman - Prussian Empire (top right), Federated States of America (bottom right), Kingdom of Britannia (bottom left), Empire of the Blazing Sun (top left)
Next up are the infantry additions. A basic trooper and a special weapon for each army. The perfect add-on to your starter set. Max numbers in your squad with max firepower at the same time.
The nice thing about these is the fact the Specialist in each is different from the one in the starter box. Not only that, the additional infantry member is a different sculpt as well. They look like they are loaded to help out the Specialist.
That means, in my Prussian and British squads I will have 11 models each. All Different! You don't see that often in current games with metal models. Very impressed Spartan!
Prussian Empire Kettenkarre Tankette (top right), Kingdom of Britannia Basset Tankette (bottom right), Empire of the Blazing Sun Ryuma Steambike (bottom left), Federated States of America Treadbike (top left)
Finally for today, there is the start of the armoured and vehicle sections for Dyst Legions.
Tanketts for the British and Prussians. These are shorter than a single model according to other pictures. Single man tracked armour with a heavy gun. very nice but not amazing compared to the others above. I will end up getting both though.
The Empire and America get bikes. But not just any bikes. Weird and wonderful stunning bikes!
A steam powered hover bike driven by a samurai for the Empire. Is there a much cooler sentence?
American has the Trackbike. A single tank track with a seat and engine on. Plus mounted machine guns. Again, seriously cool.
Its a shame I only picked up the British and Prussian starters with all these stunning models coming. But then those were the ones I liked the look of the core troops and specials the most. Both will be filled out into full armies but I might have to pick up the minimum requirements for the FoA and EotBS. Just so I have an excuse to pick up their great looking additions as well. (Check out the Sun Ke-Ho tank and Air Cav in an earlier post)
I think I can safely say that I'm hooked on the steampunk / Victorian sci-fi combat thing. (can you tell?)
You will definitely be seeing more of it on here int he near future.
That's all for today. I'm off to carry on painting for the 'Paint the City Pink' fundraiser. More on that in a couple of days.

I do like the new Legions stuff. For some reason I thought the Crocodile was for the EotBS. However I like the round RC ships, they grow on you and are really nice models. But I am jealous the Brits are getting a crochety old man in a motorised bath chair!
ReplyDeleteI thought the Clockodile was EotBS for some reason as well.
DeleteThe Colonel for the Brits is great! Cant wait to get my hands on that model.
More more I look at the pics, the more I want all of it!
I am jealous that the KoB has Knights Templar and the PE has the Teutonic Knights, the FSA and the EoBS need something similar. I'd like to see the FSA get Marine equivalent to the Knights and the EoBS get Samurai. Love the treadbike.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like every force will be getting the same sorts of things. Mech Cavalry, Aeronuats etc
DeleteI expect FSA and EoBS will be getting Armoured Infantry as well
