Hunting for Heroclix. Help?

After taking a look at the Heroclix Colossals I have decided to give the game a try.
Unfortunately there isn't a Heroclix retailer in my county and the single figures on eBay seem abit pricey.

So I'm calling out the the wonderful world of blogging for some help.

Where can I get Marvel Heroclix at a decent price in the UK?
Where do I even find the rules?
How do you build a team?
And loads of other questions!

Can you help?

  1. Your best bet is probably buying a job lot of randoms, or hoping that they turn up in the Works again...

As far as rules go, you can download a pdf here: http://wizkidsgames.com/marvelclassics/ (I don't know how up to date they are, I tend to use heroclix as repainting fodder rather than for their original intention these days)

Teambuilding: I used to be all about themed team building (Brotherhood of Evil Mutants ftw), but if you're after some actual advice, hit up hcrealms.com and lose a couple hours looking at peoples repaints and conversions before remembering why you went there in the first place...

  2. I have recently got into heroclix and I buy mine from Forbidden Planet (there’s a few dotted around) or if you wanted to get them online try http://www.boardgameextras.co.uk/ if you buy a starter set you get the rules in them, I went for Street Fighter.

  3. Thinking about it, they've just released a new starter set to tie in to the new Avengers film - iirc £12.99 gets you four supes, maps, dice, rules and whatnot - is there a Waterstone's anywhere near you, as 147 branches stock it.

  4. team buildings the easiest part. choose a point limit, choose characters up to that limit, duplicates allowed unless they are unique or silver ringed. I think miniature market ships to UK cheap, not posotive

    1. Wow, I didnt realise it was that easy.
Do you need to keep heros and villains apart?

    2. not at all. Aside from the phased out arch enemy bases(HC mark 1, before the HC:avengers set(not the about to be released heroclix:the avengers movie )) you can put anything nonunique together. Army I'm dreaming of right now is Dormammu (300) and 3 of his slaves(mindless ones)

  5. The 13th Floor is my preferred UK website for Heroclix purchases, both for singles and sets.
