500th Post! Big Deep Wars + DreadBall Giveaway!

Its here! A long time after this blog began, welcome to the 500th post on ToaTS!

It has been one hell of a journey to get this far. So many models, so many games, a load of events and tons of new goodies. It has been a really fun journey though.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the readers, followers, viewers and random clickers. If it wasn't for you all I doubt it would have made it this far. Hope you have enjoyed what you have seen so far and there is a LOT more to come. (Even if that 'real life' thing has happened over the last few weeks)

What can we do to mark this milestone? How about a giveaway!

Antimatter Games have been awesome and given us
10 PDFs of the Deep Wars Rulebook to give away to you lovely readers!

Mantic Games have also been awesome and given us 2 copies of DreadBall Kick Off edition and 2 Signed Art Prints!

You can see what is included in the DreadBall box HERE

If you want to get your hands on one of these and check out the very unique games, all you need to do is write a comment! A suitable comment though along the lines of Deep Wars or DreadBall. Sci-fi, sports, underwater, steam-punk, old ones, that sort of thing. The more imaginative the better.

Just leave your comment at the bottom of this post or under the link to this post on the ToaTS Facebook Page (link)

On June 15th we will pick 14 random winners from all of the comments and post the names up here. You will then have 2 weeks to claim your prize.

I will leave you with a selection of the stunning underwater and sporting models from the games.

Good Luck

Hendybadger awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

  1. Congratulations on the milestone. As a ole for f rules systems, I'd be interested to read these unique, exciting underwater steam punk rules.

  2. I was so tempted to get into this, sadly I was out of money for both kickstarters and then I had issues with paypal so I haven't been able to grab a copy... so who knows, I might get lucky and finally get the final push to build a Cthulhu underwater temple :)

  3. I've been interested in this game for awhile now....And I've built an airship (steampunk reference) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.289607337756418.95068.280260902024395&type=3

  4. Congrats on 500! Deep Wars looks awesome. That's the one kickstarter I very-much regret missing out on. Glad to see they are doing well and you have been keeping the blog going. Keep up the great work! Maybe someday I'll get take the dive into Deep Wars.

  6. I already have one Dagathonan Salvager at home for my Carnevale band, but reading the whole rules of Deep Wars would be awesome! You know, you never have enough fishy friends at home :P

  7. At the turn of the tide this appeared from the murky depths. Looking to splash into new games after a certain citadel company has embraced the briney mistress. (Basically giving up on GW for good :( )

I'd love to read the rules on this and get into it. It's Fishmen and Steampunk and well fishes! What's not to love?

  8. Congrats on the 500! Count me in for the drawing, this game caught my eye and I would love to read up on it more.

  9. Big congrats on the 500th post!!

Deep Wars is something I've been looking at for a while. The miniatures are all pretty amazing and rather unique in the hobby, something seldom seen. I'd love to see how the game plays.

Best of luck Hendy on the next 500!!

  11. Nice one on hitting the 500 posts. The only thing I don't understand is how they shovel the coal in underwater.

  12. I have to confess that when I first heard about Deep Wars, I thought it was a stupid idea. But apparently I was in a minority, and would live to find out what the fuss is about. I love the SOBH architecture so maybe I'll have to give it a go eventually.

We should definitely sort out that painting-by-Skype thing at some point when the little badgers allow.

    1. Oh yes. You will get me painting one day.

  13. Well done and congratulations! Hear, hear, old bean! Hurrah and such. I am in on desiring one of these pdf's, because a physical book would get wet when I play the game underwater.

  14. They do have some lovely models, and after some bad KS starts, I have to hand it to them, they stuck with it and got some stuff sculpted and done.

  19. Congratulations on the milestone post.... As a longtime fan of Cthulhu mythos, steampunk, and skirmish games Deepwars was something I desperately wanted to back but did not have the cash.... The rules just might draw me in... and I need a reason to get more miniatures....

  20. Congrats on the 500. I'm very interested in this rule set. Wondering how (or if) they address swimming in the rules. I have never seen this game setting before.

Just played my first Dreadball games recently. I was impressed. Coming from BloodBowl, I wasn't expecting it to compare. But it definitely stands on it's own. Please count me in for the prize draw. That would be awesome to score.

    1. Swimming is handled really well. The whole game is fully 3D with models able to move high above the table.

  21. Every time I see this game, it makes me wish I could get that tentacle graft I always wanted. As an Aquarius, I also find the game appears to have everything it takes to be a great game, Steam Punk Jules Verne vibe, Cthulhu stylings and tentacles. Everything is better with tentacles...... everything.

  22. as an aside, anyone know how big The Abyssal Gark is?

cause I'd like him to be in my CSM army, as I have a Helbrute converted to look like him.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Gark is abut the size of a Terminator.
There is a large Dark Mariners Bioconstruct that would work well though.

  40. Congrats man. You know Ive been following you for a while now all through your Warmahordes phase and back, and Im happy to see your posts every week about the "little" games... specially in miniatures count!

Ive been slacking recently but looking forward to see who the lucky winners are. Nice toys all around.

    1. Warmahordes could be considered my gateway into all of these smaller games.
I may even go back to it one day. But for now the supers, sports, seas and space are far too much fun.

Hope you have enjoyed it so far and thanks for sticking with the blog for so long.

  59. You had me at 'free'! :) But seriously, Deep Wars looks very cool, and Dreadball is a lot of fun. I've only played it once as it's my friend that owns it, but I did post my initial thoughts on the game on my blog. Hope you don't mind a shameless plug? http://colourofwar.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/fast-and-furious-dreadball-in-nutshell.html
