Even More Deep Wars! Dark Mariners Heavy Biomech and the Rest of the Stretch Goals

Antimatter Games have been showing loads of new Deep Wars models coming up to the Kickstarter target of July. Even though I shared some just a couple of days ago, they have posted another HUGE beastie.

This is the Dark Mariners Heavy Biomech. A design that has been around since the art of the ShadowSea game, the model was funded as part of the Deep Wars Kickstarter stretch goals.
At the top you can see a size comparison shot next to 2 30mm based models. They are on high bases and one is even swimming above and they still look small next to the Biomech.

Below are some different angle shots so you see all the amazing detail Bob Olley has put into this piece and below that is a list of the Stretch Goals and how they are progressing.

The Deep Wars Mini-Kickstarter unlocked all sorts of underwater goodies with its campaign and chip-in option.
I have marked each with the faction they belong to and posted the most recent pictures of each in the order they are listed.

New Info on Shadow Sea 2nd Edition

Antimatter Games have posted some info on the planned next edition of Shadow Sea. The land based side of Deep Wars.
This was posted on the old ShadowSea Kickstarter -

The previous post had some good feedback and has helped identify things people want to see and what is probably not a good idea. What seems to work best is to keep the forces small and focused like in DeepWars, with lots of character for each troop type. We will stick to the starter sets with 5 models per box but we will try to have all of them metal this time. The initial forces will be Fortune Hunters and Dark Mariners, with the Axibalan empire coming next as a stretch goal, then Draconid Legion. Other mercenary forces will be unlocked after that along with the supplements for different regions of the Underlands. The starting date would be after the DeepWars rewards all ship, so probably late August.

Stygian Depths - snakemen and demons, tiles mixing the dungeons with natural caverns in one tile pack to keep it simpler. Fewer quest chambers. Cards for magic items, treasures, encounters, traps, etc so everything is random.

Sunless Forest - Sunless Kingdom minis - trogs, clal-chk, garks, etc. maze of fungal tress and unnatural formations. Outdoor hazards, traps, new treasure types, biotech artifact cards.

Sunken Citadel - Order of Yosoth sorcerers, Ethereals - underwater tunnels, chambers, water-filled rooms, tie with DeepWars more, new spell types, artifact cards.

Those supplements and new figures could be 10k each as stretch goals, so the project would have to get successful to fund them.
Interspersed with the main core items would be commanders, heroes and big models. One of the first "special items" will be Azcalta – Mistress of the Apocalypse with her "assistant". This is the WIP of the concept art.

What are your thoughts on these new plans?

Deep Wars News Update

Antimatter Games have been hard at work getting all the stretch goal minis from the Deep Wars Kickstarter campaign finished. The models are looking stunning so I thought I would gather the recent news all here in one place.

First up is the Giant Angler Fish for the Scaly Horde (above and below). Antimatter wanted this big nasty fish to look like it could swallow a person whole. I think they have pulled that off perfectly.
This is just an amazing piece! My favourite in the entire range so far.

The Templar Shadow Slayer for the Fortune Hunters is a strong anti-magic character. Very handy to have in the depths of the Shadow Sea. I really like this model. It has its own style while still being recognisable as part of the faction.

The Fortune Hunters also get a Medic. This model is currently WIP and needs propulsion systems and such adding. Looking good so far though. Lovely swimming pose.

Along with the Giant Angler the Scaly Horde get a Clal-Chk warrior. The same race as the Scientist in the starter set, this insectoid diver has bio-gear made from different creatures.

The Ancients of Atalan have an absolutely stunning Recon Scout riding an underwater bike. The details on this look amazing. Not too sure on the coral holding it up but then it could be a water trail. Will wait and see when its painted up.

The Hydroform Mech is another addition to the Ancients. This robo-jellyfish is still WIP but I'm impressed by it so far.

Its not just Faction models that are getting added. There is also some terrain.
This is the Hydrothermal Vents piece next to a 30mm base Heavy Soldier. Covered in crystals, tube worms and other sea life it will make a lovely addition to any underwater table. You can see the resin casts in the Giant Angler pictures at the top.

While not part of the Kickstarter, Antimatter have also designed some awesome Swim Stands to mark the different depth levels of the models. Created by Litko, they have a seaweed piece on the base to mark the level.

Don't forget, we are giving away 10 copies of the Deep Wars rules at the moment in the 500th Post Giveaway. All you need to do is leave a comment HERE

Its here! A long time after this blog began, welcome to the 500th post on ToaTS!

It has been one hell of a journey to get this far. So many models, so many games, a load of events and tons of new goodies. It has been a really fun journey though.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the readers, followers, viewers and random clickers. If it wasn't for you all I doubt it would have made it this far. Hope you have enjoyed what you have seen so far and there is a LOT more to come. (Even if that 'real life' thing has happened over the last few weeks)

What can we do to mark this milestone? How about a giveaway!

Antimatter Games have been awesome and given us
10 PDFs of the Deep Wars Rulebook to give away to you lovely readers!

Mantic Games have also been awesome and given us 2 copies of DreadBall Kick Off edition and 2 Signed Art Prints!

You can see what is included in the DreadBall box HERE

If you want to get your hands on one of these and check out the very unique games, all you need to do is write a comment! A suitable comment though along the lines of Deep Wars or DreadBall. Sci-fi, sports, underwater, steam-punk, old ones, that sort of thing. The more imaginative the better.

On June 15th we will pick 14 random winners from all of the comments and post the names up here. You will then have 2 weeks to claim your prize.
