500th Post! Big Deep Wars + DreadBall Giveaway!

Its here! A long time after this blog began, welcome to the 500th post on ToaTS!

It has been one hell of a journey to get this far. So many models, so many games, a load of events and tons of new goodies. It has been a really fun journey though.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the readers, followers, viewers and random clickers. If it wasn't for you all I doubt it would have made it this far. Hope you have enjoyed what you have seen so far and there is a LOT more to come. (Even if that 'real life' thing has happened over the last few weeks)

What can we do to mark this milestone? How about a giveaway!

Antimatter Games have been awesome and given us
10 PDFs of the Deep Wars Rulebook to give away to you lovely readers!

Mantic Games have also been awesome and given us 2 copies of DreadBall Kick Off edition and 2 Signed Art Prints!

You can see what is included in the DreadBall box HERE

If you want to get your hands on one of these and check out the very unique games, all you need to do is write a comment! A suitable comment though along the lines of Deep Wars or DreadBall. Sci-fi, sports, underwater, steam-punk, old ones, that sort of thing. The more imaginative the better.

Just leave your comment at the bottom of this post or under the link to this post on the ToaTS Facebook Page (link)

On June 15th we will pick 14 random winners from all of the comments and post the names up here. You will then have 2 weeks to claim your prize.

I will leave you with a selection of the stunning underwater and sporting models from the games.

Good Luck

Deep Wars Previews - Templar Shadow Slayer + Elluvi Darkeye

Antimatter Games have posted some nice new pics.
A WIP of the Fortune Hunters Templar Shadow Slayer and full pics of the MASSIVE Dark Mariners Commander Elluvi Darkeye.

The Templar Shadow Slayer for the Fortune Hunters (above) is skilled at taking out spell casters. A very useful model to have when facing the Dark Mariners or Ancients of Atalan.
I like this model due to the dive suit and helmet that is totally different from the other models in the FH range.
It really makes is look like and individual but at the same time still manages to tie in into the rest of the faction with all the little touches.

Next up are some full shots of the HUGE Elluvi Darkeye

Elluvi Darkeye is the Commander of the Dark Mariners.
He rides on top of a giant mechanical squid boi-construct. To give you an idea of the size the base is 50mm (Warjack) and the rider is over 30mm to the head.
The detail on the mount is just amazing and it is going to be a very imposing model on the ocean floor and a great centrepiece in your collection.
Elluvi is available now. What are you waiting for?

WIP Deep Wars Underwater / Sea Floor Board + Something Scary!

I thought it was about time I posted my WIP Deep Wars board.
Going for a wild sea floor area with bits that can be swapped in and out.

The Board will not be staying green. At the moment I am thinking about covering them in actual beach sand and then doing the same to the bottom edges of the terrain pieces to help them blend in.

All the of plants are plastic aquarium decorations. Some have been drooping a little so the plan is to use green garden wire threaded up through them to keep them straight. The bases may be altered as well to make them more stable and to match the other terrain.

The red rocks and blue crystals are Gale Force 9 Battlefield in a Box sets. I may repaint them but I want to see how they look after the sand has been applied to the board. I will be having a closer look at these on the blog over the next few weeks.

The corals and 'Doom Clam' are aquarium ornaments. These look quite good as they are. Going to sand the bases the same at the GF9 rocks. A couple of bits may get repainted but that is just a 'maybe' if they look out of place on the finished board.

Time to stick some models on and see how it works.

A selection of Deep Wars models really help to get the underwater feel to it. Especially having them on the blue Malifaux bases.
I will be taking a closer look at the models on here soon. The last couple arrived today so I can get started on full reviews of the entire range.

I think it looks like a good layout so far but some bits are missing.
Want to add some more tall plants to give the feeling of depth and I think a couple of large coral pieces would work as well to fill out the more open areas.
In the next few months I should also be receiving the Hydrothermal Vents from the Deep Wars Kickstarter. They have been said to be around 6'' wide and up to 6'' tall with all manner of sea life and crystals as part of the piece.
The sculpts are being worked on at the moment and I cant wait to see them. Until then, check out the artwork they will be based on.

I would love to hear which bits of the board people like the most and least so far.

The Deep Wars sea life is nice. And some of it is quite big. But I wanted something bigger. Something to terrorise the divers and creatures of the Shadow Sea.
Enter Vincent from 'The Stygian Depths' Facebook group with this picture.

On the left is the Scaly Horde Dire Fish Lizard on a 50mm base. On the right is the Dark Mariners commander on a 50mm base.
In the middle is the Reaper Master Series Kraken. 1 of only 250. WOW! Its massive and awesome! I wanted one!
Looking at the Reaper site there were only 8 left. Not cheap though thanks to the added postage to the UK
Luckily there is a UK Reaper supplier. Miniature Heroes.
Tim at MH said he could get one if we were quick but didn't know how long the last 8 would be around for.
Still abit pricey and I cant justify that. Oh well. Maybe there will be one in a few months.

That didn't go down well with the mighty Galley Wench. I loved it, she loved it, there were only 8 left and she had been saving a few pennies.
The most awesome of ladies got me a KRAKEN!
Love that woman soooooooo much.

Until next time

Hag-Ray shown for the Deep Wars Scaly Horde

Antimatter Games have posted a new sculpt for Deep Wars from the Kickstarter. Model by the talented Bob Olley.
The awesome looking electric Hag-Ray for the Scaly Horde, could even be used as sea life for other Factions to face.
(above front, below back and original artwork)

There is also an update on shipping, the webstore and other models that are being worked on.
From the Deep Wars Kickstarter -

"We hope everyone is having a nice holiday and a great New Year's party. The DeepWars mini-kicker has shipped out all of the early rewards and is moving towards the delayed shipments. Bob Olley has been working at an amazing speed to finish the DeepSpawn Reaver, Vanguard Captain and Hag-Ray, so those will go in the delayed shipment. We are giving an extra coupe of weeks to make sure we get these figures cast so they can go in the shipment. It will give us some more time to see if we can squeeze in the Dark Mariner Commander, Dire-Fish Lizard and Dagathonan Brute. Otherwise those will go in a later shipment.

On a down note, we were doing an update to the website and managed to break the shopping cart. Hopefully it will be fixed in a day or two but it may take longer. We were planning on running a sale from the store but we may run a new chip-in pledge drive for January since the December one was so short and not timed well. Either way, the Ebay store is still up and running, although not all of the products are in there.

I really cant wait to get my hands on all the Deep Wars goodies. Roll on January!

Deep Wars Mini Kickstarter Update

It was only a week ago I posted (link) about the Deep Wars - Guardians of the Abyss Mini Kickstarter but the project has been so successful I wanted to update people on how it is going.

They met thier target in a matter of hours and within a day they had unlock the first 2 stretch goals!
Since then, the fans have helped unlock another 4 goals! 2 Fortune Hunters, 1 Ancients Mech and a HUGE scenery piece!

These Vents will come in a section with one main vent and a couple of smaller ones, with deadly tube worms, crabs and other sea life guarding valuable ether crystals. The main chimney is probably 150mm tall or so, and the size of the base is about 120-150mm. The smaller chimneys about half that height

With 8 days left on the Deep Wars Mini-Kicker I expect at least 2 or 3 more unlocks before it is over. If not more.
The next couple lined up are -

The Weapon Packs probably the energy and projectile weapons. Most can be modified versions of the weapons held by figures, but made without hands holding them. There could be ones with hands also. Some new ones would need to be sculpted though, like a disruptor blaster and disruptor torpedo.
8 weapons for each force is expected. Maybe more if we are lucky!

This thing is going to be MASSIVE!!!!! I really hope it gets sculpted!

To top off these unlocks, Antimatter Games have also added 2 newly cast models to the range available to ship out in December! The Fortune Hunters Arcane Researcher (top) and Ancients of Alalan Conjourer of the Ethers (middle).
If the model is ready in time, they might even be able to add in the Fortune Hunters Big Game Hunter (bottom)

There we have it. LOADS of great underwater goodies!
Head over and check out the Deep Wars Kickstarter Page (link) for even more goodies!
