AARRGGGH! ITS ALL GONE! Noooooo! Help!

Couldn't find a Badger

Its all gone! All of it! AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

A few days ago I went to turn on my computer. Nothing happened. Nothing at all. It had died!
But the Badger had made a back-up right? Wrong! (learnt my lesson now)

In a file on that computer was weeks worth of articles for ToaTS. Pictures for reviews, links, logos, PDF rulebooks and tons more. 100s of hours worth of work, lost.
ALL GONE!

What does this mean for Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher? Well......
Several of the things I was going to cover wont be happening now. The rest will be going ahead at a much later date.
To get back to the position I was with this blog is going to take a few weeks. Because of this, posts will be a bit more spread out for a while until I can catch up again.
Luckily, I have some Pulp City, Dystopian Legions and Deep Wars to play with and post up while I sort out everything else out.
After that, who knows at the moment!

It also means I have needed to get a new computer to keep the site going. I tried it on mobile but it just doesn't work very well. A new computer was easy enough to find but when you have a family in a house that has only 1 person working, not that easy to get.

I did spot an idea on another popular site a while ago though when something similar happened.
To help out with the hardware and tons of hours needed to be put back in, they gave the readers an option to help out.
This isn't something I would ever have wanted to do but then I never expected this to happen.

Because of all this, You will notice a button in the top left of the page.
A 'Donate' button in fact.
I am in NO way asking people to do this. I just want to make that clear. But....

With the 'Kickstarter' bug at the moment I could even do some sort of Pledge levels.

Something Old and Something New

With the blog hitting the recent landmark of 100K hits (the giveaway is still going on HERE) I decided it was time I mixed things up abit. On the blog and in my personal hobby. The 'Supers' gaming will stay but other games will be added to it.

First up I have decided to return to where this blog started.......

After not playing Warmachine for a long, long time I have dug out the old army.
A lot of things were cleared out when our little boy arrived but I still have 50-60pts of Talion Charter Mercs.
To be more precise, A Pirates Life - Shae Tier 4

First Mate Hawk

Lord Rockbottom

A great force that takes a lot of hits to take down and dishes out even bigger hits itself.
With Shae being the least played Caster of the least played Faction they are also a surprise to anybody that doesn't face them on a regular basis.
Here are my converted Privateer Nomads and the paint scheme on my Buccaneer.

The pic of the Bucc doesn't really do it justice. My best paintjob I have ever done in my opinion.

I'm going to get some practise in with this force and maybe even take it to a couple of tournaments and events.
But then what?
I want to expand with some more Jacks, Bart, Fiona, filling out the units and getting some more key Solos.
Then there's GALLEON!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!
At a push I may even grab some Searforge for Shaes new NQ Tier List.

After expanding the Mercs I want to look at the NQ Tier List for Skarre as I was given her model recently.
A mix of Merc and Cryx Pirates. I LOVE the Cryx Revenants and cant wait to get my hands on some.
Im already sure that this will lead onto a full Cryx Pirate force with Blackbanes, Black Ogrun, Epic Skarre, Satyxis, Terminus and Crab Jacks.

MAYBE after that I might look at Hordes again.
I did have a Blindwater Gator force but I lost interest in them after a while. That was before the new additions in Domination though.
If I do go for Hordes it will be a return to the Blindwater Gators and the addition of Thornfall Farrow.

But for now its pirates all the way.

Then theres the something new......

I tried to get into Malifaux a while ago with a Dreamer / Lord Chompy Bits crew.
I collected EVERYTHING they could have. Including the nightmare additions. But I soon discovered they were a very tricky crew to learn with.
This put me off the game and the crew was sold in what has come to be know as 'The Great Purge'

I recently started going to a local store called the Giants Lair. They have a regular (Rich) who is a Malifaux Henchman and has been trying to talk me into trying the game out again.
Still unsure on it, Rich offered me a full crew in trade for afew models I was getting rid of anyway.Ok, I'm in!

And this is where I will begin.

A good solid base to learn and play according to the Henchman.
I had a look at the other models in the Outcasts range and with abit of helpful advice I have decided to add a couple of options to play about with and swap in and out.
Student of Conflict (meant to be a great addition)
Hamelin (has my families dog)
Sue (who can say no to a flaming guitar?)
Hans (meant to be another great addition)

From this start I will get as many games in as I can and she how I get on with the game and the crew.
It may just end there! But, and theres always a but, What if it doesn't?
What if I end up really liking the game?
Will I get more Outcasts? Move to another Faction? (I like the look of the Arcanists and Neverborn)
Who knows? Only time will tell I guess.

How I get on, my modelling and painting (and probably converting), any new additions and any events.

Blog Progress Update

Hi all,
I thought I would just give you a quick update on what I have been doing.
I know I said there would be Infinity on here soon but that has sort of been put on the back burner for now. Still undecided on the game and minis. Plus I have some AWESOME projects I'm working on for other games.

What are those projects you ask?
Well.....

Pulp City
On here soon you will see a whole range of Pulp City goodness.
New and special minis. Reviews, WIPS, dramatic battle reports, convention demos, 80s-00s scenery and more.
But the main PC project at the moment is the Pulp City Marvel project. Starting with the PC Avengers!
(More on that later)

Legends of the High Seas
I know I was going to post these things sooner but real life got in the way.
Soon there will be Pirates minis from Black Scorpion and Black Cat Bases.
A HUGE range of 25-28mm scale ships. Everything from 4-20 inches. Mainly from Ainsty Castings and Games of War.
Lots of different scenery inc ship wrecks and a pirate port.
As usual there will be reviews, WIPs, battle reports and more.

Other Games + Ranges
Its almost time for another batch of Relics reviews from Tor Gaming.
More minis covered from a variety of different ranges as and when I find them.
Gaming news that I like the look of.

Competitions
There are 3 comps planned for this blog at the mo.
Paint a Citizen, Best Pulp City action shot and a followers giveaway.
In fact the giveaway is going on right now.

The Future's Bright. The Future's.......... Badger

I thought it would be nice to put together a post on the future of my hobby and the future of this blog.
At the moment I have LOADS of models and different games lying around, and not enough time to finish or play them all.
So I have chosen to narrow down what I'm doing for a while.
My own hobby will be 3 games (for now) and the blog will have a couple more.

This blog is going to get a 'little' narrowed down. Some things going but some things getting added.
In the near future you will see-
Relics Reviews, General gaming news I like the look of, New products I find and like, Guest posts on Malifaux, and some surprises.
And content from and for my 3 chosen games (below)

Pulp City is my favourite skirmish game of all time. Amazing minis with brilliant rules.
What other game lets a 50 year old man wearing a train kill a vampire bulldog with a portaloo while a robot gorilla throws zombie superman off a building?

What do you want to see on ToaTS in 2012?

To start off with, Happy New Year to all readers, viewers, random clickers, linked blogs and blog networks.

Over the last couple of months there have been some major changes in my life.
I am now a daddy as you may have seen to little James. 6 weeks old. (This is why there has been more news than anything else on here recently. Hooby time got cut)

I am also no longer a Press Ganger for Privateer Press. With so much going on I just couldnt fit everything thing in so thought it fair to resign and let someone thats has more free time take on the position.
(If your in cornwall and love PP, go for the PG apllication)
I will still be playing Warmachine and Hordes with my Talion Pirates and Blindwater Gators though. Cant wait for Roci and the new Gator Beasts to come out.
The new releases, previews and any events I attend will still be here aswell.


The site address 'pressganger.blogspot.com' will stay the same for a couple of reasons.

1- I love anything to do with Pirates! In fact some people say I even have Pirate OCD. Also plan to cover some Piratey games like Cutlass, Legends of the High Seas, Freebooters Fate, Ron + Bones, Uncharted Seas and Trafalgar.
2- Looking at the stats on this page there are links to different posts all over the place. Changing the addresss would stop all these working and thats not fair to people who want to follow any of them.

After all of this you may have noticed a name change. This blog is now Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher.

Right, onto the main point if this post,

Happy B.Day Blog! 1 Year In! Thanks to + a Question For My Readers

Happy Birthday Tales of a PG + TS!!!!!!!!!!!
One year ago today a couple of things happened.
1. I became a Press Ganger for Privateer Press
2. I started this Blog!

A whole year in and a whole lot has happened. Finding new games, helping run a gaming club, tourneys, events and allsorts.
Right up to the birth of our son 1 week ago today. (Happy 1 week b.day James)

At the start of this blog I was just covering the events ans such I was involved in as part of the PG.
But soon started to add my own minis and other games I had found.
Like Relics (reviews coming soon), Malifaux (more on that and Puppet Wars soon) and my favourite so far - Pulp City! Check out my last post HERE for the latest PC news.


12 months in the blog has hit an AMAZING 46,000 hits, I must be doing something right for all of you to keep reading. I never expected this page to have any impact but obviously it has.

I would like to use this oppertunity to say a MASSIVE thankyou to all followers, readers and viewers for the support over the last year. This blog wouldnt be here if it wasnt for you.
And also to the blog networks and sites that have helped promote this site. You can find links to all of those just over to the right >>>>>>>
