Avengers Mansion board

Any long term readers of this blog will know that often I like to grab a load of terrain and see what new boards I can come up with.
As I have the KM Arkham Asylum but I am now in love with the new Marvel game (that I have wanted for years), I thought it would be good to try and combine them.

Using the board and the main 3 buildings of Arkham, I added some other bits including my WIP Avengers statue and a Quinjet to go for an Avengers Manison!

I think its going to need some more bits added for cover and throwing and will be best played from left to right so both teams get a bit of mansion.
So far though I think it's working.

Avengers and Guardians Board for Marvel

I have finally had the chance to pick up a couple of bits to finish off my multi use Marvel board.
Some sprays to match the GF9 rocks, more GF9 rocks and some textured paint.

This was a combination of 3 different Army Painter sprays on top of some masonry textured paint. I wanted a darker edge and light middle. Came out quite well I think.
Well, on the second attempt after I was too quick the first time and scratched up one side before it dried.

Everything in place for the Guardians of the Galaxy scenario 'Relics'. Including the Hasbro Milano.
Makes an ideal alien planet or maybe the first Starlord scene from the movie.

A mix up for the Avengers scenario 'Control the Energy Pillars'. Lots to throw, hide behind and zoom around. Maybe a scene from Wakanda or the mines of the Savage Land?

Next up I'm waiting for some Sentinel bits to arrive from the old Marvel Legends action figures.
A head, torso, hand, arm and two feet. These will be replacing the ships for a Genosha or even Limbo setting.

I now most people think of city settings for Superhero games but for this I wanted something different.
I already have around 4 boards in that style. Small buildings, large buildings, industrial and Arkham.
All made for Batman but perfectly usable for Marvel as well.

Wooosh! Pew Pew! Gaming Quinjet!

In my hunt for goodies to add to my Marvel Mini Game tables, I came across a Hasbro Quinjet from Avengers Assemble.
Some were crazy money but I found one cheap on eBay and it arrived this weekend.

I think it looked quite good on the table but maybe a little big?
I know, time to watch Avengers Assemble and check! (good excuse yeah?)

In the movie there are two characters side by side in the cockpit and four characters all standing in the back making this toy almost spot on for size.

What do you think? Too big or just right?


I also had a random thought while playing a couple of games.
Being a Marvel fan for years I have characters that I like a characters that I don't from both the comics and the movies.
This gaming is changing that!

I have never been keen on Cap, Thor or Cyclops but on the table they are great fun.
On the other hand, I love the Guardians but I just can't get on with them on the table. My wife is evil with them though so it must be me and not the rules.

Have you found the same sort of thing? Is the MUMG changing the way you see different Supers?

Avengers Downtown Board for Marvel Universe

I openly admit to being a scenery hoarder. I have piles of boards, buildings, rocks hills and all sorts.
Not that I said 'hoarder' and not 'builder'.
While I was at work over the last week, my wife took matters into her own hands.

Over a few days she dug through the piles of unbuilt boxes and put together her own Avengers Downtown board.
To start off with there a mixture of Secret Weapon Tablescapes tiles from the Urban clean and damaged sets.
Then on those are the Mohawk Tower and Olympus Building (front two above) from Multiverse Gaming and the Hospital and Bank from TT Combat.

To really make it Avengers themed, I picked up an Age of Ultron Quinjet for her. It's from a 2" figure set by Hasbro and has a Captain America on motorbike that shoots out the bottom which was rapidly stolen by our 4 year old.
With Ironman on top and Hulk in front, I think it looks a pretty good scale.
The 'bits' box was then raided for cars, containers, portaloos, hydrants and more.

The next step is paint obviously but I think we are going to have to get a few games in first.
