Exclusive - Speed Force Paradoxes in the Batman Mini Game

Last week on the blog we had a great Speed Force preview from Knight Models. You can check it out HERE.
Today we get a look at the next part of the Speed Force. Paradoxes!
(Click images to view in full size)

When a model uses a Speed Power that includes a Paradox value, they must roll a dice.
If the result equals or beats the value in the Power, they must immediately roll 2D6 on the Paradox table below.

The resulting effect on the Paradox table is applied straight away and if the Speedster survives, the Speed Power they were trying to use fails, losing any Speed counters spent and activation passes to the next Speedster or next game phase if they are no more Speedster to spend Power.

There are a lot of interesting effects there like Yesterday Again? or What Happened? but i think the two to really watch out for are the 2 and 12 results.
2 removes the Speedster from the game an 12 means the Black Flash chases them down.

How does the Black Flash work? Well, with books shipping any day now I'm sure we will find out soon.

What do you think of thes Paradox Effects?
Will you be taking the risk? Or keeping your Speedsters to the lower Powers?

Exclusive - Speed Force in the Batman Miniature Game

The awesome team over at Knight Models have sent over a nice preview from the soon to be released Flash / Arrow expansion for the Batman Miniature Game.
The Speed Force rules!
(Click images to view at full size)

So, What is the Speed Force?
In the DC Comics universe, the Speed Force is an extra dimensional energy that Superhuman Speedsters can tap into and use to perform amazing feats. The most notable of which is Barry Allen, The Flash!

How does the Speed Force fit into the BMG?
In the Batman Miniature Game, Speedsters like the Flash and Professor Zoom (shown below) can tap into the Speed Force and use Speed Counters to pull off some amazing actions.

When using a Speedster in your crew, a new Speed Phase is added to the game rounds between Take the Lead and Raise the Plan.
In this Speed Phase your Speesters can take power from the Speed Force Pool up to their Speedster Trait. 6 for the Flash and 5 for Zoom.
The Pool only ever contains 10 counters so the team with Initiative takes counters first. This could slow down your opponents.

Once all Speedsters have their counters, or the Speed Force Pool is empty, they can then spend them.
Each Speedster can do ONE Speed Power from the chart below per activation, again in Initiative order. Unless they have a rule that states otherwise like the Flash (above)
Power effects are resolved immediately and once a model has spent all the counters you want, Speedsters alternate spending between teams until Speedsters have been used.

Some characters will have additional Speed Powers they can use on their cards like Professor Zoom (below). These are used instead of the Speed Powers table.

You will notice that several of these Powers have a Paradox value next to them.
Hopefully we will get a look at what that means soon. Maybe last week?

The addition of the Speed Force to the Batman Miniature Game is going to open up a ton of options and gameplay ideas. I can't wait to get Barry running up the side of a building!

What do you think of these new rules?
Are you looking forward to speeding around the tabletop?

Let us know below.

Batman Exclusive Preview - Arkham Knight Harley Quinn Crew

Knight Models have just sent over an awesome preview. The first of their Arkham Knight releases.
A Harley Quinn Crew box!

After the events of Arkham City and the loss of her Puddin', Harley has lost it even more.
She has gathered together a selection of thugs and wants to take down B-Man once and for all.

The model is a great representation of Harley from the game. Darker and nastier than before. Her 'boys' bring along some new weapons as well. A sawn-off shotgun, jackhammer and chainsaw!!!!

Harley works as a new Leader model for the Joker crew. At 80 Rep and packing an SMG, she can cause a lot of problems on here own.
Harley's Special Traits of Bluff, Escape Artist and Play Nice show she has her 'boys' under control and trained to fool their opponents just like she can and if Mr J can't lay his hands on her any more, nobody can!

Being Joker Affiliation also means that this new Crew box already has a TON of Joker thugs already out that can be added to Harley's forces and an equipment list in the rulebook ready to go.

What do you think of Arkham Knight Harley Quinn and her crew?

Exclusive Batman Court of Owls Preview - The Talon William Cobb

The fantastic team at Knight Models  have just sent this over.
A preview for William Cobb. A Talon for the new Court of Owls crew,

Cobb is THE Talon. Well, the first one that Batman meets anyway. Ancient reanimated assassin and Dick Grayson's great grandfather. Cobb takes out anyone the Court want him to and especially likes killing Waynes.
This model seems to have been pulled straight out of the pages of the comic as it captures the character and details perfectly.

Cobb comes in at 68 Rep and is only a Henchman! This makes it look like the court may be a low powered Leader and some very strong but expensive Henchmen. An elite force that can take on any challenge.

Armed with some Blood giving knives, Cobb uses Combo, Martial Artist and Precise Blow to become a serious threat in close combat.
Getting in to combat won't be a problem for him either. Deploying further with Undercover and then using Elusive to help avoid ranged attacks means Cobb will have no trouble crossing the board.
Don't forget that Henchmen can take Equipment as well. Do Stealth or Climbing Claws sound like good additions?
If he is taken down, "Reanimated Owl" lets him reroll the KO recovery roll and get back into the action much quicker. While he sound all round amazing, he does have a big weakness. The cold!
Mr Freeze can cause some serious extra damage to this Talon if he isn't careful.

What do you think of this Talon?
Are the Court of Owls going to be your next / first crew?

With his four robotic arms, Doc Ock has been a problem for Spidey for several years.
Leader of the original Sinister Six and many versions of the villainous team since, Doc Ock has even taken over the body of Spiderman himself.

Time for a pic of the mini!

This Doctor Octopus is based on the 'classic' version in all his green and yellow tubbyness.
I really can't wait to get my hands on this guy.

What about you?
Will you be picking up a Doc Ock any time soon?

Exclusive Batman Preview - Speedy a.k.a Roy Harper

Our good friends at Knight Models have sent another great preview.
This time it's one for all of you Green Arrow and Arrow show fans.
(Wow, did you see the end of this weeks episode???)

SPEEDY a.k.a Roy Harper.
Some of you may even know him as Arsenal or the Red Arrow. Sidekick to the Green Arrow himself and currently part of Red Hood's Outlaws team, Speedy is a very skilled archer with all sorts of trick arrows and a crazy attitude to go along with his crazy heroics.

This isn't a very clear picture as it's a capture off of the rules card. But, it does let you see all but the tiniest details of the new Speedy model for the Batman Miniatures Game.

I think this model captures Roy really well. It shows skill and athletics at the same time. Almost as if he is about to zip off of a rooftop.
It's not just a shot of the model we have though, we have RULES!

Rules wise, Speedy is a Sidekick for the Green Arrow crew only. Clocking in at 74 Rep and $200, he isn't the cheapest addition but I think he will bring a lot to the force. Average to good stats across the board make him a very flexible character. Acrobat, Movement 3, Defense 4 and Endurance 7 means your opponent will have to work to keep up with him and them work even harder to take him down when they do.

If the enemy close down in front of Speedy, the addition of Charge  lets him storm through the middle and then still attack. This is handy as he can deploy up to 20cm out of the deployment zone so will probably meet the enemy first due to Undercover.

Speedy would rather be picking people off at range though. Rapid Fire means he always gets +1 Rate of Fire even when moving, which Good Aim lets him do and still shoot, so he can get into the right position for the shot.

Once it's lined up, he gets a choice of two arrows. The standard one gives 2 Blood damage on a 3+ but the Explosive one blows up and gives 1 Blood and 1 Stun on a 2+.
I would make sure there is at least 1 Ammo Crate objective on the table though.

The addition of Speedy gives a really nice Green Arrow crew now. Green Arrow, Speedy, Huntress and the Police set 1 as Lance and Diggle comes in at just under 300 Rep.
Guess what I'm going to try as soon as he's released!
This isn't all Knight Models have coming though.

These are modular buildings for the Gotham Sceneography range. No news yet on when or how they will be available but I know I will be picking some up as soon as possible. They look amazing.

Finally, a big man is coming to Gotham City. LOBO will be available for the Batman Minis Game soon!

So, what do you think of Speedy? Will he be on your shopping list?

Knight Models Exclusive Preview - The Huntress!

The awesome guys over at Knight Models have just sent us a fantastic preview for the Batman Miniature Game.

Helena Bertinelli a.k.a The Huntress!
A member of the 'Bat Family' and Birds of Prey in the comics and a student turned bad if you are a fan of Arrow.

They say a picture says a thousand words so lets get right to the model.

She looks dangerous and really looks like she means business. But, what is she like in the game?
Well, we just happen to have her rules as well!

Huntress is a Free Agent for Batman and Green Arrow. You can take 1 Free Agent for each 150 Reputation (points) in your Crew and she already looks like a very good option.
Coming in at only 66 Rep shes a great choice while still leaving room for others.
The $100 funding cost that comes out of your $500 per 150 Rep means a couple less goodies for the goons but she brings a lot for that price.

The Hand Crossbow has you hitting on a 3+ at anywhere up to 40cm range. If that lands, 2 Blood damage can really slow your opponents down and make them consider getting out of her way. It's only got Ammo 2 though so you will want to be picky with your targets.

Rapid Fire gives you a +1 Rate of Fire even when moving so Huntress can get into position and still take down a dangerous target. Combine this with her Acrobat movement bonus (which gives the Dodge Trait vs ranged attacks), Distract taking 1 off off the targets Defence and Stealth meaning she can't be seen in the dark until the opponent is 20cm away and you get a killer assassin that is hard to hit back at a distance.

If they do close in, Huntress isn't helpless. The Bo lets her attack enemies up to 3cm away and reroll her Impact Hits for 1 Stun damage. Martial Artist means Huntress can't be outnumbered in combat and Runaway stops her from getting Arrested.

So, what do you think of Helena a.k.a Huntress? Will she be joining Batman or Green Arrow for you?

Pulp City KS in its Last 100 Hours! Don't Miss Out!

The Pulp City Kickstarter is in its last 100 hours and they are pulling out all the stops!
(click any image to view full size)

First up is a final sculpt of the new Powerhouse Amok for the Way of Fist and Blade faction.

Think he looks big? Check him out next to the other new Powerhouses and a normal sized Sister Bedlam mini.

The Pulp City team have also added a couple of things that several backers have been asking for over the course of the project.
How about some stunning Q Workshop Hero and Villain dice?

Another thing backers have wanted is the option to 'cherry pick' their own teams outside of the current unlocks and value packs. With this in mind they have added a FULL add-on list of EVERYTHING in the PC range!
You can find it >HERE<
The list includes some nice teasers for current and upcoming locked stretch goals like RoboChimp, SymbioGrimm, Lady in Red, Stygian in 2 forms, Mr.Kraken, Phalanx, Mecha Spartans and Scarab.

You may be thinking "Why should I pledge now and not wait for release?"
Well, what about the 4 awesome exclusives and limited editions?

John Grimmsham is a new lvl3 Leader for the Grimm and only available during the Kickstarter. He is included in every Supreme level pledge. The 'sweet spot' level that has gone from 7 to 19 models already!

Another Grimm exclusive is the 'Dragonfly' model as an added extra to the Grimminions pack.
No kickstarter is complete without a certain reference. Shiny!

The PC team are so pleased with the support shown for this project that they have offered up a special model.  The Herald! He has only been available before to those that promote Pulp City and go above and beyond in support of the game. Never for sale before and never for sale again!

Finally there is the rarest and most wanted PC mini of all time. The Red Baron!
I have seen this figure sell for over £100 on eBay before as only a few were ever made.
One will be included in each 'Collectors' pledge. $600 for over $1200 worth of goodies and the Baron!

What are you waiting for? Head over and check out the best 'supers' game on the market and don't miss out!
Even if you just pledge $1, it helps unlock more goodies for everyone.
The Pulp City Kickstarter is really going to be one to watch over these last couple of days.

The stand number is TB22 so go in the door and head for the far left corner. First aisle in from the edge.
If you can't make it to Salute, these 2 will be available from the Pulp City Website in early May.

Lets take a closer look at these stunning models.

She is a highly skilled and well trained combat expert that can take on any foe.

Blacksmith is the Level 2 Tank of Blood Watch. He collects and uses several ancient and mysterious relics to help protect and enhance the rest of the team. Skilled with gates and portals he can get the team where ever they need to be.

If you will not be attending Salute 2013 but still want something new and early, how about a brand new cast of the Minion who will be available online (and at the show) this weekend-
June Summers!
Also a sneak peak at the new Minion card design for PC Supreme Edition
June Summers is a reporter for Channel 4 in Pulp City. Her job is to capture all of the action between the Supreme Heroes and Villains as it happens.

June was a limited edition release in resin a couple of years ago but she has now returned in metal! (So happy about this. The only PC model I didn't have)
She will be available on the Pulp City Online Store during Salute and at the Pulp City stand on the day. If you want this model, and I know several PC collectors that do) head for the website or stand TB22 this weekend. She will be released later on in the year but it wont be for a while as the next few months of releases are already known.

These are a stunning selection of models and huge thanks to Pulp Monsters for letting us shown and announce them.
Hope you all have fun on the day!
