Knight Models November Releases - BvS, Freeze, Flash Villain and More!

Knight Models have posted up a huge release for November. All sorts of goodies due for release from the 17th.

First up is the Batman vs Superman Trinity Starter for the DC Universe Minis Game. Coming in at 40 Lvls they will be great to face some of the Marvel Universe teams until more DC come along.

Next is something fans of the Batman Minis Game have wanted for a loooooooong time.
A very cool looking Mr Freeze starter from Arkham Knight. It even has a hockey stick henchman as a nod back to the best movie EVER, Batman and Robin!!!!

For fans of the CW Flash and Legends of Tomorrow series, there is Heatwave / Mick Rory and Captain Cold / Leonard Snart.
Heatwave is a general villain Free, as is Cold, but Cold can also be used as a Mr Freeze Sidekick. Maybe along side Killer Frost?
To top it off they also have the Teamwork rule between the two of them, as they should.

The Suicide Squad box gets new additions as well. Rick Flag to lead the Squad and a set of Q Workshop dice with Squad member themed faces.

Far almost as long as people have wanted Freeze, they have also wanted a Sidekick for Bane.
Now hes here in the form of Bird with a set of Mercs to aid him.

Below there are also a selection of tokens, counters and templates for your new goodies.

So, what do you think of this release?
Which ones stand out for you?

Win a Ltd Ed Black Flash!

The time stream has gone screwy. A Speedster is respnsible. The Black Flash want's his life force!

This model was given away along side pre-orders of the Flash and Arrow expansion for the Batman Miniature game.
You can't get hold of them any more and they wont be available again.

But, here at ToaTS, we have one to give away!

All you have to do is comment below with a character you would like to see appear in the Batman Miniature game and what they would be able to do.
This could be a DC character that hasn't appeared in the game so far or an alternate version of one that has already been released.

The winner will be drawn over the weekend and announced next Monday.

Have fun!

CW Flash and Diggle join Arrow in the Batman Game!

This is the month I have been waiting for, since the Arrow was released for the Batman Miniature Game.
CW TV series models!!!!!!!

His name is Barry Allen and he is the fastest man alive.
He is also a 100 Rep Green Arrow Sidekick with Speed Force Master and Speed Force Bolts.
Going to be a must have in every Arrow crew for me.

Facing Barry is Harrison Wells, I mean Eobard Thawne. The Reverse Flash.
A 110 Rep Speedster with a Phase Strike, Tachyon Device and ability to ignore a Paradox roll.
He's a Free Agent that can work with any bad guys except the Joker or League. He can even be in the Suicide Squad!
Roll on Grodd and King Shark for a full on Anti-Flash team.

Oliver Queen's bodyguard and best friend, John Diggle / Dig / Spartan is here as well.
A 60 Rep, $350 Henchman for Green Arrow crews, Dig brings guns, tasers, body armour and more.
He even has an alternate head with his Spartan helmet.

To finish of the Batman releases for this month, there are also status markers and MDF air ducts.

What do you think of this month's BMG releases?
I'm buzzing for the CW stuff and can't wait to see more.

Exclusive - Speed Force Paradoxes in the Batman Mini Game

Last week on the blog we had a great Speed Force preview from Knight Models. You can check it out HERE.
Today we get a look at the next part of the Speed Force. Paradoxes!
(Click images to view in full size)

When a model uses a Speed Power that includes a Paradox value, they must roll a dice.
If the result equals or beats the value in the Power, they must immediately roll 2D6 on the Paradox table below.

The resulting effect on the Paradox table is applied straight away and if the Speedster survives, the Speed Power they were trying to use fails, losing any Speed counters spent and activation passes to the next Speedster or next game phase if they are no more Speedster to spend Power.

There are a lot of interesting effects there like Yesterday Again? or What Happened? but i think the two to really watch out for are the 2 and 12 results.
2 removes the Speedster from the game an 12 means the Black Flash chases them down.

How does the Black Flash work? Well, with books shipping any day now I'm sure we will find out soon.

What do you think of thes Paradox Effects?
Will you be taking the risk? Or keeping your Speedsters to the lower Powers?

Exclusive - Speed Force in the Batman Miniature Game

The awesome team over at Knight Models have sent over a nice preview from the soon to be released Flash / Arrow expansion for the Batman Miniature Game.
The Speed Force rules!
(Click images to view at full size)

So, What is the Speed Force?
In the DC Comics universe, the Speed Force is an extra dimensional energy that Superhuman Speedsters can tap into and use to perform amazing feats. The most notable of which is Barry Allen, The Flash!

How does the Speed Force fit into the BMG?
In the Batman Miniature Game, Speedsters like the Flash and Professor Zoom (shown below) can tap into the Speed Force and use Speed Counters to pull off some amazing actions.

When using a Speedster in your crew, a new Speed Phase is added to the game rounds between Take the Lead and Raise the Plan.
In this Speed Phase your Speesters can take power from the Speed Force Pool up to their Speedster Trait. 6 for the Flash and 5 for Zoom.
The Pool only ever contains 10 counters so the team with Initiative takes counters first. This could slow down your opponents.

Once all Speedsters have their counters, or the Speed Force Pool is empty, they can then spend them.
Each Speedster can do ONE Speed Power from the chart below per activation, again in Initiative order. Unless they have a rule that states otherwise like the Flash (above)
Power effects are resolved immediately and once a model has spent all the counters you want, Speedsters alternate spending between teams until Speedsters have been used.

Some characters will have additional Speed Powers they can use on their cards like Professor Zoom (below). These are used instead of the Speed Powers table.

You will notice that several of these Powers have a Paradox value next to them.
Hopefully we will get a look at what that means soon. Maybe last week?

The addition of the Speed Force to the Batman Miniature Game is going to open up a ton of options and gameplay ideas. I can't wait to get Barry running up the side of a building!

What do you think of these new rules?
Are you looking forward to speeding around the tabletop?

Let us know below.

New Marvel / Batman/ Animated / Flash Releases!!!!

Yesterday, Knight Models hit with an EPIC amount of new releases for the Marvel and Batman games.
As I'm obviously more of a Marvelite, I will start with those

Gambit, aka Remy Lebeau, joins the X-men. A Level 7 mixed melee and ranged attacker with Acrobat and Stealth will be great addition.

Next up we have Groot for the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Groot is a Level 9 tank. A lot of defensive and healing powers as well as some decent melee make Groot very handy and very dangerous.

The Batman game doesn't just get models this month. It gets an entire expansion!
The Flash and Arrow book brings rules for new teams, the Speed Force, Vechiles, scenarios and much more.
If you pre-order (even from your local shop) you can get your hnds on your very own Black Flash. Limited Edition and comes with his own stat card.
Talking of Limited Edition, there is even an alternate comic cover you can get direct from KM.

What are Speed Force rules without Speedsters?
The Flash joins Batmans crew as a Sidekick at 125 Rep. We don't know what the Speed Force powers do yet so I can't tell you much more about him.
Professor Zoom, aka Eobard Thawne, is also her to take down the Flash by joining any of the other Villains crews except for Joker or the League. A 117 Rep Free Agent may take up a lot but I expect he's worth it.

The new team rules include the Suicide Squad. But the members can also joins crews as per the basic rules.
A New Deadshot is here for any Villian except Joker at 90 Rep and $600. His Barret can hit with up to SEVEN Blood damage!
Not as picky but just as dangerous is Captain Boomerang. Joining any Villain for 82 Rep and $350.
Armed to the teeth with boomerangs for all occasions then he can even bounce off people.

If you are a fan of the Animated style KM have been producing, this month brings the Green Arrow and Batgirl.
The Green Arrow is a 77 Rep Leader for his crew and has an awesome Boxing Glove arrow.
Batgirl is a 47 Rep Free Agent for Batman or Jim Gordon.
These models keep with the same style of basic stats and rules so are ideal for people learning or younger players.

The final model for this month is the AWESOME Hawkman.
Able to join Batman or the Green Arrow as a Free Agent, you could create your own Justice League or Legends of Tomorrow.
At 109 Rep he is a beast with some great flight abilities and Teamwork with Hawkgirl (obviously)

The goodies don't stop there.
Q Workshop have created some lovely looking Batman and Joker dice with Robin or Harley collateral damage dice. (Mrs Badger made me get the Harley one)

Last but not least is some new acrylic.
Spray templates, vehicle turn templates and Flash / Zoom tokens.

So, what do you think of the new releases?

The Batmobile Roars into Gotham!

Knight Models have posted more news about the upcoming Flash / Arrow expansion for the Batman Miniature Game.

This time it's VEHICLE RULES!
You will finally be able to roar across the tabletop in the Batmobile!
It looks like the SWAT van and more will be usable as well.

Which DC vehicles would you like to see in a game?

In the above image, it also looks like we will be seeing more Scarecrow / Arkham Knight / Deathstroke Militia soon as well!

This book has me beyond excited for the future of the Batman Mini Game.

Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and YOUR CHOICE!

Knight Models have let out some more info on the upcoming Flash / Arrow expansion for the Batman Miniature Game.

It will have rules for using themed teams like the Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, Teen Titans and Secret Six.
With a new Deadshot and Captain Boomerang in the image, I expect we will see all sorts of great characters on the way.
Hoping for King Shark, Starfire and Red Robin myself.

KM also want to know which Free Agents you want to see next for the game.
They have a Poll on the Official BMG Faebook group - Arkham City Limits

Head over and place your vote.

The Speed Force is Coming!

This has just appeared on the Knight Models Facebook Page..
The Speed Force is coming to the Batman Miniature Games.

While I expected the Flash / Arrow expansion to be just TV characters, this new pic looks like they will be going for comics as well.
First ones being the New 52 Flash and the Black Flash, Death of Speedsters.

What do you think of them?

CW Flash and Arrow head for the Batman Mini Game!

This has just been posted up on the Knight Models site.
Oliver Queen and Barry Allen from the CW TV series will be the focus of the first expansion for the Batman Mini Game!

I know we have an Arrow model and a Nyssa model already, but I can't wait to see what else they come up with.

I wonder if this will also contain the Vehicle rules and Themed teams like the Suicide Squad that KM have mentioned recently?

What do you want to see from this expansion?

Flash vs Arrow - The Brave and The Bold Miniature Review

Tonight is the start of something a lot of DC fans have been waiting for. The Flash vs Arrow cross-over, "The Brave and the Bold". A two part episode over two nights on the CW.
If you live in the US, you can watch it on TV or online. If you don't, download the HOLA browser add-on and check out http://www.cwtv.com/ to watch the episodes just after they have aired.

To mark this event I thought it would be good to have our very own Flash vs Arrow here on the blog. And I just happen to have those two minis from Knight Models handy!
So, lets have a look at Barry and Oliver!

Both of these models come in the usual Knight Models packaging. Clear blisters with the parts held in tightly by foam. Behind that is a backing and display card showing a painted example of the model inside.
When you open the blisters, you will find.....

Two highly detailed, 35mm scale, multi-part metal models. Two 30mm plastic bases. One stat card for the Green Arrow. The cards rules can be found HERE.
I would have loved to have these two face off across the table but the Green Arrow is the only one with rules for the Batman Miniatures Game. Although, a lot of people are asking for Flash rules and Knight Models are good at responding to what their customers want.
There's always the upcoming Supers game though. I'm sure they will both get rules for that.

The Green Arrow

His name is Oliver Queen. After five years in hell, he has come home with only one goal: to save his city. Now others have joined his crusade, to them he is Oliver Queen. To the rest of Starling city, he is someone else. He is ... something else.

The model for the Green Arrow comes in five parts. Body, left arm, right arm, quiver and scenic base.
As the body and base are separate, it would be really easy to have him standing on something else if you wanted to.
As you can see, there are very minimal mould lines on the parts. The only ones that needed much cleaning were on the Bow and that was a little more effort that usual, but only because I was being extra careful to not bend the bow.

The Flash

His name is Barry Allen and he is the fastest man alive. When he was a child he saw his mother killed by something impossible, his father went to prison for her murder, then an accident made him the impossible. To the outside world he's an ordinary forensic scientist, but secretly he uses his speed to fight crime and find others like him, and one day, he'll find who killed his mother and get justice for his father. He is The Flash!

The Flash comes in only three parts. Body, head and left leg.
He had slightly more mould lines on him than the other model, but as he is wearing a bodysuit it made it really easy to clean up.
Watch out for the size of the head. With my big badger paws I managed to drop it a couple of times.

Time for glue......

Both models were fairly easy builds apart from one little issue each.
The Green Arrows arms really need to be stuck on at the same time to get the positioning right. This did leave little gaps at the joins but that's often something you get with metal models.
The Flash had a tiny gap around the leg but it will be simple to fill. The problem came when I cut off the base tab to put the model on a resin topper. (Caused the problem myself). His foot left a very small contact area with little room to pin.
Super glue and patience worked though.

Both models capture the feel of the characters really well and are packed full of detail. The image below from Knight Models really shows them both off in all their glory.

This is a hard fight / review to pick a winner from.
The Green Arrow looks amazing while the Flash isn't quite as impressive. I think that's more down the the characters costume than the model though.
The Flash was a perfect fit with a few more mould lines while the Green Arrow needs a little work on the arms but is very clean.
Both are spot on the the characters.

For me I think the final scores will have to be......

Flash - 8/10 Badger Points

Green Arrow - 9/10 Badger Points

Oliver takes this one. But only just. I can't wait to get them on the table together in one game or the other.
But who will win on screen?
Check out The CW, via the HOLA app if you aren't in the US, and let us know what you think of the cross-over. No Spoilers Please!

For more DC model goodness, also check out the Arkham City Limits Facebook Group.
