DC / Batman Review: Batgirl and Huntress from Knight Models

Over the next few days we are going to take a closer look at the October releases from Knight Models.
First up are two new ladies for the Batman Miniatures Game. Batgirl and Huntress.

These two models come in the standard Knight Models packaging. Each is in a blister pack with the pieces held in tightly with foam and a game card that is also used as a display backing card.

Once open you will find two 35mm scale, highly detailed, metal models in several parts. Each with a 30mm base to mount them on.
They also include cards, which I haven't pictured, as you can download them all HERE.
Lets take a look at the two ladies separately.

 Batgirl / Barbara Gordon

Batgirl is a Sidekick for the Batman and Law crews. She comes in at 59 Rep and $0 to hire. In her rules you will find Batlings, Batcape, Batclaw and more. She looks to be a great addition rules wise.

The model for Batgirl comes in 4 pieces. Body, left leg, right leg and cape. The parts are fairly clean and the only noticeable mould lines were on the sides of the torso. Easy enough to file off though.

Huntress / Helena Bertinelli

Huntress is a Free Agent for the Green Arrow and Batman crews. Pure vigilante here, no working with only the police.
Her costs are 66 Rep and $100. Not an overly expensive model but will take up a chunk of your points in small games.

The Huntress model is in 4 parts. Main body, left arm, right arm and cape.
This one was very clean apart from a small tab on the end of the crossbow. As you can see above, the mould lines are minimal and only took seconds to clean.

Time to glue.........

Batgirl and Huntress were both easy builds. I took the base tabs off of each and mounted them on base toppers from Fenris Games to match the rest of my collection.
Batgirl does have a small gap at the back of her waist. Easy to fill but it is hidden under the cape so you wouldn't even spot it unless you are looking very closely. She is also very top heavy with a small connection point to the base. This is ok, but it means you need to be a little more careful during games or pin and weight the base.
Huntress just slotted together and looks amazing. My only negative thought is that her crossbow looks a bit big. But, some artists did draw it that size so it's just personal taste.

Each of them will cost you around £12 online. It may sound a lot for a single model but these are bigger than the usual gaming scale with a lot of detail as well as being licensed products.
Plus, how much is a character for the biggest games on the market?

This time I'm going to score the models separately on the Badger Points scale

Batgirl - 7/10

Huntress 9/10

Check out these and the rest of the Batman range at the Knight Models Site..

Next up is Roman Sionis a.k.a Black Mask........

Exclusive Batman Preview - Speedy a.k.a Roy Harper

Our good friends at Knight Models have sent another great preview.
This time it's one for all of you Green Arrow and Arrow show fans.
(Wow, did you see the end of this weeks episode???)

SPEEDY a.k.a Roy Harper.
Some of you may even know him as Arsenal or the Red Arrow. Sidekick to the Green Arrow himself and currently part of Red Hood's Outlaws team, Speedy is a very skilled archer with all sorts of trick arrows and a crazy attitude to go along with his crazy heroics.

This isn't a very clear picture as it's a capture off of the rules card. But, it does let you see all but the tiniest details of the new Speedy model for the Batman Miniatures Game.

I think this model captures Roy really well. It shows skill and athletics at the same time. Almost as if he is about to zip off of a rooftop.
It's not just a shot of the model we have though, we have RULES!

Rules wise, Speedy is a Sidekick for the Green Arrow crew only. Clocking in at 74 Rep and $200, he isn't the cheapest addition but I think he will bring a lot to the force. Average to good stats across the board make him a very flexible character. Acrobat, Movement 3, Defense 4 and Endurance 7 means your opponent will have to work to keep up with him and them work even harder to take him down when they do.

If the enemy close down in front of Speedy, the addition of Charge  lets him storm through the middle and then still attack. This is handy as he can deploy up to 20cm out of the deployment zone so will probably meet the enemy first due to Undercover.

Speedy would rather be picking people off at range though. Rapid Fire means he always gets +1 Rate of Fire even when moving, which Good Aim lets him do and still shoot, so he can get into the right position for the shot.

Once it's lined up, he gets a choice of two arrows. The standard one gives 2 Blood damage on a 3+ but the Explosive one blows up and gives 1 Blood and 1 Stun on a 2+.
I would make sure there is at least 1 Ammo Crate objective on the table though.

The addition of Speedy gives a really nice Green Arrow crew now. Green Arrow, Speedy, Huntress and the Police set 1 as Lance and Diggle comes in at just under 300 Rep.
Guess what I'm going to try as soon as he's released!
This isn't all Knight Models have coming though.

These are modular buildings for the Gotham Sceneography range. No news yet on when or how they will be available but I know I will be picking some up as soon as possible. They look amazing.

Finally, a big man is coming to Gotham City. LOBO will be available for the Batman Minis Game soon!

So, what do you think of Speedy? Will he be on your shopping list?

Deadpool, Batgirl and Black Mask Join new Knight Models Marvel + DC Releases

Knight Models have just posted up the new 35mm Marvel and DC releases. And they are STUNNING!

First up is the one mini I have been waiting for. Not only since I found out about the Marvel range, but for years. DEADPOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wade Wislon (not Slade, sore subject) looks fantastic and I can't wait for the Supers rules to be able to get him on the table. But, what colours do I use? Red and back, X-Force, X-Men?

The Batman Minis Game gets a character that people have wanted since day one. Barbara Gordon a.k.a Batgirl. A new Sidekick for Batman and the Law Forces. You can see her full rules under 'Attatchments' HERE (link).
The mini looks to be full of movement and actions. Great pose.

The new crew for the Batman game is Black Mask and his Thugs, Anatoly, Mesh and a general Goon.
I wasn't sure if I wanted this as I have so many crews already, but one look at the models landed it on my shopping list straight away.
All rules can be found under the 'Attatchments' heading HERE (link)

The final unseen release this month is a set of Joker HAHA! markers. Perfect for use as action or special counters in the game.

These all go along with the previews we have posted over the last week of Venom, Huntress and the Wayne / Queen Containers and Boxes.

Head over and check out the Knight Models Page for prices.

Which is your favorite?

Knight Models Exclusive Preview - The Huntress!

The awesome guys over at Knight Models have just sent us a fantastic preview for the Batman Miniature Game.

Helena Bertinelli a.k.a The Huntress!
A member of the 'Bat Family' and Birds of Prey in the comics and a student turned bad if you are a fan of Arrow.

They say a picture says a thousand words so lets get right to the model.

She looks dangerous and really looks like she means business. But, what is she like in the game?
Well, we just happen to have her rules as well!

Huntress is a Free Agent for Batman and Green Arrow. You can take 1 Free Agent for each 150 Reputation (points) in your Crew and she already looks like a very good option.
Coming in at only 66 Rep shes a great choice while still leaving room for others.
The $100 funding cost that comes out of your $500 per 150 Rep means a couple less goodies for the goons but she brings a lot for that price.

The Hand Crossbow has you hitting on a 3+ at anywhere up to 40cm range. If that lands, 2 Blood damage can really slow your opponents down and make them consider getting out of her way. It's only got Ammo 2 though so you will want to be picky with your targets.

Rapid Fire gives you a +1 Rate of Fire even when moving so Huntress can get into position and still take down a dangerous target. Combine this with her Acrobat movement bonus (which gives the Dodge Trait vs ranged attacks), Distract taking 1 off off the targets Defence and Stealth meaning she can't be seen in the dark until the opponent is 20cm away and you get a killer assassin that is hard to hit back at a distance.

If they do close in, Huntress isn't helpless. The Bo lets her attack enemies up to 3cm away and reroll her Impact Hits for 1 Stun damage. Martial Artist means Huntress can't be outnumbered in combat and Runaway stops her from getting Arrested.

So, what do you think of Helena a.k.a Huntress? Will she be joining Batman or Green Arrow for you?
