Wench, as a dad with two smallish children - ages 8 and 6 now - I know the challenges of keeping up any hobby along with work, household, and friends and family. If there's a magic bullet, I've yet to find it.
I think making a commitment to yourself of a block of time - once a week, once a fortnight, or whatever - is really important. It's too easy to put your own stuff on the backburner, but that way lies burnout - all of us need that time for ourselves, and as a parent that can be really hard to demand, particularly of yourself.
It's great that you and Hendy share so many interests - gaming night becomes date night as well, I imagine.
Oh, one thing that helps us is enlisting family members. My mother-in-law is great about watching the kids if we need a night for ourselves, as is my sister-in-law.
I don't think any of this is new to you - it sounds like you actually have a good handle on things already, so keep doing what you're doing.
Hendy's obviously a lucky guy . . . er, pirate badger.
thank you, we do try to set some time aside for ourselves on a semi-regular basis. my mum is great for babysitting however she lives quiet a distance away from us so when she does babysit she has to stay the night, so she can only do this every whip and trip. but it works fairly well for us anyway :) . as for 'me' time, i'm soon to start horse riding again, so that is going to be great.
