Arkham Asylum + New KM Website

It's been a HUGE week for news from Knight Models and it doesn't look like its stopping any time soon.

So far we have had -
- The Sons of Batman demo team program
- Marvel Game rumours
- New Brand, Knight Models Legends
- Resin Arkham Knight Batmobile
- Alternate painting contest

Now, KM have announced a brand new website including additional player tools, and the first item available from the KM Legends line, the awesome MDF Arkham Asylum.

Here's the official post -
"Due to the questions, guesses and predictions from the community following the reveal of Knight Models Legends this week, we would like to explain a little more about our new brand and what the future will hold for it.

Knight Models Legends was created with the idea of bringing the magic of comic book universes to our original product range. Iconic Buildings, detailed vehicles and even alternate miniature lines will all become reality with this new brand. We will be using different materials such as resin for many future releases as we would like KM Legends to be known for its superior quality.

The entire Knight Models Legends range will only be available in our online store, so we thought this would be a great time to combine it with the release of an entire new website design. One of the first new products you will find on there after launch will be our already famous Arkham Asylum.
We hope you are as excited by this new project as we are and we promise that this will be a VERY special new year at Knight Models. All of this is thanks to you, the fans!"

What else are you hoping to see from KM Legends?

Pre-cut Terrain for Carnevale from Plastcraft Games

Plastcraft Games have just posted this stunning new scenery for Carnevale on their Facebook Page.
Being made from pre-cut plasticard means it is going to be VERY affordable.
The windows and doors look to be resin add ons.

What do you think of it?
Will you be picking some up?

Talking of Carnevale, the game will be appearing on here in the near future. Guild, Patricians, the rulebook and a selection of Independant characters.

First up for the new releases are the stunning Dystopian Leigons wave 4 APCs. (above and below)
One for each force, but each with their own feel.
Even though my favourite DL forces are the Britannians and the Prussians, I have to say the the American APC appeals to me the most

Federated States of America Patriot APC
Empire of the Blazing Sun Kote APC

Here you can see a size comparison next to the Prussian Infantry. These are 35mm models on 30mm bases.

Dystopian Wars also has a bunch of new goodies.10 new land armoured vehicles for use with Wars or the new Armoured Clash rules.

If tanks aren't your thing, how about aliens!
The Invaders now have their very own starter box!

To finish of the newsletter, Firestorm Armada gets some love. Some Space Installations and an RSN Starter fleet.

More Info on Pulp City Supeme Edition - Roles and Team Building

Member of M.E.T.E.O.R

Pulp City have posted up their Editorial Eye #2 in the build up to Supreme Edition.
This post covers the new 'Roles' that different Supremes have and the changes to Team Building.

You can see the original post >HERE< and I have also reposted it below.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are Supreme Roles?
When we looked at simplifying the way Supremes worked one of our first mandates was being able to pick up a Supreme Card and know what that Supreme does. The Role defines what a Supreme does on the table. Not only does the Role define what a Supreme does it also offers a bonus to that Role to make it better at its job.

What are the Roles?
There are eight different Roles in Supreme Edition. Just by seeing the Role listed on a card you will know right away how a Supreme will function on the table.
  •          Blaster: Ranged combat masters. They get bonuses as long as they are not in Base to Base with Enemy Models. Examples: Ace of Wraiths and Tangent
  •          Brawler: The melee fighters. They get bonuses when engaged with an enemy in Base to Base contact. Examples: Crimson Oni and Hellsmith
  •          Tank: Tanks are a support Supreme; they usually have a powerful attack and lots of Damage. Friendly models can transfer Damage suffered to a Tank in Base to Base. Examples: Iron Train and Rook
  •          Speeder: Speed is the name of the game for these Supremes. They can move a third time each round, making them exceptional Objective takers. Examples: Androida and Night Fright
  •          Infiltrator: Ninjas! These guys can begin the game anywhere on the tabletop, except the enemy deployment zone. Examples: Chimp Chi and Shadow Mask.
  •          Support: These guys provide powerful buff to the team, though are very weak on their own. They supply Bonus AP when surround be their team. Examples Red Riding Hoodoo and Sister Bedlam.
  •          Leader: The big team leaders you know and love! They can bring with them a Leader Card unlocking further boost and team powers to enhance a Sub-faction or Origin Themed Team. Examples: C.O.R.E. and Mysterious Man.
  •          Powerhouse: These guys are the real damage dealers. They generate more attack successes than just about any other role. Example: Six Feet Under, Father Oak.
Roles and Team Building
Supreme Edition is going to see bigger games as you can run them more effectively. We expect to see a Level 12 Encounter become the normal size for a Pulp City game. One of the things we’ve changed is to allow you to take any combination of Supreme levels. So if you want 12 Level 1 Supremes that’s legal. The only restriction is that you can only have a single Leader, and a single Powerhouse. Other than that you’re free to do as you will.
This is possible because of how the Roles balance out against one another. If you want to bring a Level 3 Leader and a Level 3 Powerhouse and your opponent brings 6 Level 1 Supremes this is a legal game now. Be warned though having the right mix of Roles is going to be CRITICAL. You’ll want a Support Supreme to add AP. But Supports are dangerously squishy, so you’ll probably want to bring a Tank to protect them. If you bring a Powerhouse they add zero AP to the team so you’ll really need a support or two to keep them going. Of course if you wanted you could just bring a bunch of Infiltrators and Speeders. They bring a good number of AP and are relatively self-sufficient. But then you lack staying power. We’ve run multiple test games to find out that a healthy mix of Supremes that work well with each other.

What does it mean for you, Citizen?
So if this is starting to sound a little like your favorite MMORPG you might be right. There is a kind of simplicity that Roles give us that really helps keep things balanced and focused. This means less wall of text on the card, and more fun on the table. From a design perspective it allows us to have each Supreme really excel at doing one thing.
But just because a character is a Brawler don’t expect them to lack ranged attacks. In fact Guerilla is a Brawler but 2 of his 3 Actions are Ranged Attacks. In addition his Powers boost his ranged ability making him very formidable with his minigun, even if he’s really a Brawler.
Expect to see a lot of talk about the perfect mix of Roles in a team. There is no right formula but a solid grasp of what each Role does is going to allow you to build a team of Supremes that operate exactly how you want them to.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some great stuff in there. Level 3 Powerhouses? Does that mean SFU and Father Oak are goin up a level? Hmmmmmm

What is the best thing you have heard about Supreme Edition so far?

Dystopian Wars New Rules - Armoured Clash!!!

Spartan Games have just announced a new set of game rules for you use to entire regiments of Dystopian Wars land units called Armoured Clash. The best part is, it will be a FREE download!
Also, several new models will be coming along with it.
You can find the info HERE and I have also reposted it below.

Looks like I am going to be getting the French land forces after all. Hope I will be able to use my entire Skimmer force as well.

Armoured Clash

Available to download for FREE on February 11th 2013, Armoured Clash sets the scene for strategic command and control as players have power over ground assets at a Regimental level, forming them to create Armoured Brigade level forces and beyond.
These Regiments are split into various types, such as Tank, Heavy Armoured, Artillery, Support and Divisional Asset, and can be quickly and easily assembled by players using existing armoured models. Additionally, Spartan Games is excited to announce that over 20 new land models have been developed across the great nations of the world, introducing new types and classes of vehicle, adding even more diversity and choice to the world of Dystopian Wars.

New models will include the Kingdom of Britannia Steward Class Guardian Tank, Prussian Empire A2-L ‘Ritter‘ Class Boarding Tank, Russian Coalition Orlov Class Heavy Tank and much, much more.
Behind The Rules
Here at Spartan Games we very much enjoy playing big tank battles, using tables full of deadly armour with which to annihilate each other’s armies! When we set out to write Armoured Clash we started with a very clear concept: to create a set of rules that incorporated all the fun and flavour of Dystopian Wars, but that would allow for a BIG armoured game to be played to its bloody conclusion in 1or 2 hours.

Armoured Clash offers players the chance to play out these epic battles, commanding full Brigades of Armour, and rather than activating in Squadrons, players get to activate Regiments at a time, rolling up entire flanks and making great sweeping charges across the battlefield.
Get Ready For Battle!

As February 11th approaches we will roll our Orders of Battle that will allow you to prepare your land force models for the coming ground conflict, and our writers will whet your appetites with plenty of short story fiction to get you ready for the action.

For now take a look at the following document to give you an idea of what a sample Kingdom of Britannia Armoured Brigade could look like under your control:

Cry Havoc! - Mercs are Coming to Dystopian Legions

Mercenaries are coming to Dystopian Legions in 2013. They look and sound great!
You can see the original post  HERE and I have also reposted it below

Mercenaries, Dogs of War, Guns for Hire….call them what you will, but whatever name you do give them you simply can’t beat the arrival of heroes (or anti-heroes!) to any game. During 2013 we’re rolling out several boxed sets of characters for Dystopian Legions to add even more colour and depth to our tabletop miniature game.

Our first set of miniatures will bring the Honourable Eclipse Company to a gaming table near to you and we’re most excited to introduce the following characters: Colonel David Hodge, Major Nathan MacGruder, Zhang Mei-Hua, Captain Arturo Montini and Rajinder Singh.

The models will be available to add to any nation – they are, after all, mercenaries – and we’ve created a short work of fiction to introduce the first Dogs of War to you. Set in a country house in Sussex, England the members of Eclipse have been tasked with protecting an important member of Britannian society when suddenly a French raiding force arrives.

One of the key plans for our mercenaries is to interconnect then with the Dystopian Wars combat game. An example here is the shore party boxed set based upon the Russian mercenary Captain Vladimir Nikonov, commander of the Black Wolf Submersible. With his men Nikonov can be hired to spice up a game of Legions, so watch out for more news on this character and his men early in 2013.

So, allow us to present a new short story set during the Storm of Steel campaign, The Bank Raid, for your reading pleasure:
Click here to view The Bank Raid [PDF, 650KB]

Love the look and sound of these new character sets. Going to add a lot of...... well..... character to the game.
Cant wait to see the minis and what else they come up with.
I highly recommend checking out the short story about. I have stolen some pictures of the Honourable Eclipse Company from the above PDF to tempt you into reading it.

What do you think of these additions?
