Lets try this again (now I have seen Spidey)
Today is the first of a semi regular article called Badgers Booty!
A selection of recent gaming news that interests me, and my thoughts on it.

Lets start off with something BIG!

Privateer Press has shown some AWESOME things in the last couple of weeks with the release of Warmachine: Colossals. Check out the site >>HERE<< for full 360 views of all the models.

Hyperions tower over the vanguard of Retribution forces, armed with an incomprehensibly powerful starburst weapon capable of annihilating anything in its blast. Originally designed centuries ago to protect Ios from the unspeakable threat of dragons, the power Hyperions wield is so terrible they were banned from Iosan cities and relegated to deployment along its borders. Incissar Vyros, emboldened by victory, has now overridden that order to add these most formidable Iosan constructs ever developed to the Retribution’s arsenal.

A stunning piece! The design and the level of detail are amazing. My second favourite Colossal at the moment after Galleon. But then we haven't seen that one yet.
I would happily start a RoS force to use this creation.

General Ossrum Dhurg’s disdain for traditional tactics and penchant for startling improvisation and bold maneuvers have earned him both admiration and ire from his peers. The men he commands, though, regard him with universal respect and affection, not merely for the victories he brings their clans but also because he asks nothing of them he would not do himself. A beautiful model for the Caster. The sword instead of spear gives him much more of a warrior look.
Not overly keen on the Skarlock though. Looks like it should be in one of those bigger fantasy games to me.

 Behind its plates of steel, the Devastator is all but unassailable, yet it can open its armored shell to unleash a rain of deadly shrapnel from its grenade launchers. The Devastator’s success has led to the development of other ’jacks based on this chassis. The Demolisher features armor equal to that of the Devastator, but when its plated arms open they reveal cannons that can deliver powerful ordnance even in the thick of combat. The Spriggan trades the armored arms of its predecessor for a heavy shield, a massive lance, and more versatile and longer-range grenade launchers that can fire either explosive projectiles or flares that illuminate hidden enemies.

The Demolisher is the newest of Khadors Heavy Jacks. A hulking mass of armour with a hidden surprise!
Not only is this a great looking Jack, its part of a new plastic kit that also contains my 2 favourite Khador Jacks. (below

As the hosts of Everblight’s legion advance, they are preceded on the ground by the fearsome naga. These draconic horrors first spew caustic venom upon their victims before closing to tear the wounded apart with fanged maws. Though seemingly simple in form, the naga are in truth complex spawn representing Everblight’s genius in the manipulation of blighted flesh.

The newest Light Beast for Everblight looks almost like a living Cryx Cankerworm. But maybe that's where Everblight got the idea from?
It also continues the current serpentine and tentacle theme the Legion has recently had. Giving a look of new life and new ideas in the Dragonss forces.

As it says on the concept art, this is the legendary Merc (or maybe RoS now?) Eiryss. In her third incarnation she has changed a lot. With the extra armour and no hair she will be lading a unit of elves instead of running as a Solo.

To finish off the Privateer News, their awesome new app War Room is only days away.
Already submitted to the Apple store they are just waiting for the app to be cleared for sale / download.
I can see lots of people using War Room from now on.
It includes army builders, turn timer, quick reference rules and the ability to download all the cards for your army for around £5. That will then be updated with new releases for free.
The cards can also be used onscreen instead of on the table for the rules and to mark damage. Its said you can even connect with your opponent and both see where the damage is being marked!


Next up is a game I will be trying for the first time in the next few days. With the help of a very generous Henchman helping me to start out.

Being new to the game I am very interested in these latest previews.

A new fully updated 1.5 Rulebook. I don't know for sure but been informed that LOS of rules erratas have been included from growing the game over the last couple of years.
I think this will be my first book for Malifaux.

To go with the new book they also have a new set of cards. Used instead of dice in the game.
These are in plastic and have a more classic / retro design than the original artwork cards.
I think these will be my first Mali cards as well.

Wyrd have been showing lots of previews and such at the moment. I have no idea what this one is about, but I like it!

 DeepWars is a new games from Anti Matter Games. The creators of Shadow Sea.
After a VERY successful Kickstarter run they are still expanding and working towards the full release of the game.
Imagine a mix of Sci-fi, Fantasy and Steampunk. Then put it all in the water at the bottom of the sea! How good does that sound? Grabbed my attention anyway.
Recently they have having the first batches of minis painted by Worthy Painting and here are 2 of them.
Both from the Ancients faction.

Stunning models with such a great concept. Really looking forward to see what else they do and getting my hands on the game.

I've been actively trying to "save" my local community from the evil overlord named General Wantallyourmoney. The General's word is widespread and his influence strong. He's convinced many of his followers that his worlds are the only worlds and that all others are pretenders to his throne. They accept this and continue to pay the heavy and increasing "taxes" he demands of them. When I dare to speak otherwise, say that their are others that could lead us, I'm usually met with ridicule, his followers say his way is the only way and run me off into the dark cold streets (or at least make me sit at the table in the back by myself). I need some help. Perhaps a team of superheroes can save the day. The General doesn't have superheroes.

I think I should win because I have always wanted to be a super villain it appeals to me on a very basic level. How so you may ask well let me explain;

1) I like to laugh
2) I need an excuse to grow an interesting beard/mustache
3) I can do a mean monologue
4) Dressing up is fun
5) Spandex/Leather is even more fun
6) I have started creating my own minions (the word 'daughter' is so 18th century)
7) I have access to the most destructive force in the world (A wife with innate ability to break electronic devices)!!!

So as you can see from these 10 points. All I am missing from achieving super villainy greatness is either;

There are many reasons why I should win, thus making my life easier, I'll give the top ten!

10) My children are referred to as "The Dangergirls"; one can make a ear-bursting sonic squeal, and the other can literally run faster than lightening.
9) I can finally turn off the spot light on the roof with the monkey face pattern on it.
8) I smoke bombed the house three times this year.
7) I tasered myself four...
6) I can leap small buildings with a single bound, winning this contest means I won't have to jump over the girl's doll house anymore.

Once upon a time there were two gamers that put on a gaming display at P.A.W in Plymouth they were minding their own business when suddenly they noticed a game at a nearby table with cars and buildings and... superheroes !

beside the table was a tall slender man with a very shifty look about him , he was obviously up to no good. he approached the two gamers and said "please you come and play our game yes?" the two handsome gamers refused saying they couldn’t possibly as they were so busy but he says to them ,"Please... They have my family, if you do not play my game THEY will hurt them PLEASE you play yes!????"

so out of fear for a helpless family they agreed to play his game, this game he introduced as Pulp City . need we say more...? of course we do . once these two gamers had played his little game they were hooked the EVIL Dr Hendybadger had snared two more innocents and this time he had wisely snared a chairman and a treasurer of the Brixham Berzerkers gaming club !!!
MMMMWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

after just 1 game of Pulp City these two new Hendybadger henchmen went out and bought 2 x 12 point teams at salute 2012 where they were guided by their new evil overlord who was there in disguise as loving husband and father ,how despicable I hear you cry!!
They then went on to buy £190 worth of Sarrissa buildings and then lowest of all they convinced two more innocent club members to purchase a starter set each !!!!
Yes our two gamers had travelled fully to the dark side in some vile pyramid style scheme and to this date they have still only played the one fateful game of Pulp City !
All they require to take over their club in the name of Dr Hendybadger and Pulp City, is a rule book and shiny new figures for the clubs use ,then more shall be enticed and corrupted then the two gamers shall start a gaming display of destruction at other clubs corrupting more and more innocents into the vile henchmen of the evil Dr Hendybadger!

so you see now why this prize is so important ?
It would be used as a tool to corrupt more people into the world of Pulp City

I would love to win this competition, as since i've been playing Pulp City I have fallen in love with it! I've only had a few games but i think its the most fun i've had since the incident with the nuns, whipped cream and bicylce pump (good times!) Night falls upon the city and I emerge from my lair.

Rapidly, I ascend to the rooftops, cloaked in darkness, and crouch upon the precipice looking down at the life beneath me. They seem so small from up here. Not like ants, but like models: like little metal figurines. I collect them, paint them, care for them... then I pit them against one another in a never-ending conflict for my own amusement.

But this entertainment grows stale. It has been many years since I began the game. Now I look upon the teeming crowds of little people, milling far beneath me, so tiny. When once they seemed fascinating, now they seem drab. When once their capering efforts were thrilling, now they are tiresome. I could dispose of them. I could move on to some, other amusement. Or I could add some... colour.

What they need is a really exciting threat! A mechanical ape? A band of ninja gophers? Perhaps a cabal of mad scientists? But this would need something to stand against it. It would need... heroes! Colourful men and women in bright spandex with improbable powers and preposterous alter egos!

I tighten my grip upon the parapet as a smile stretches bright across my face, like the slash of a dagger. Yes. That is exactly what this city needs. And now... Now I know exactly where to get it...

Some men enjoy watching sports, drinking, and bar hopping on the weekends to help wind down from a long, stressful week at work. But no, not my husband.

He chooses to spend his free time being immensely nerdy. He has a group of friends (also big ginormous nerds) who help him embrace and celebrate said nerdiness through a variety of tabletop games. Him and his friend even built a custom game table that easily fits on my kitchen table so they do not get "in trouble" for rearranging the house and getting in my way.

He is also a great husband and daddy, but those attributes are not nearly as important as his vast knowledge of nerdlieness. Please help me help him by furthering his future nerdman endeavours by giving us this giveaway. It would make my favourite nerd super happy.

Before I explain why I would make the perfect recipient for this wonderful collection of Pulp City goodies, I would just like to clear something up which I think might prejudice your judgment. There have been a number of unsavoury rumours about me circulating on the internet and I feel that it would be best to dismiss them right away. I am not now, nor have ever been, affiliated with the League of Extraordinary Evil. As an honest, mild mannered nuclear physicist, I find it very insulting that several people have suggested that I spend my evenings perfecting a suit of electro-turbine magno-lifting anti-gravitic nitro-armour, so that I can better crush the pathetic weaklings in the Brotherhood of Champions. It is simply absurd. The photograph that supposedly depicts me standing astride a five hundred foot iron robot raining laser death over downtown London is an obvious forgery. Why, the man in the photo isn't even wearing glasses!

So, why do I deserve to win this prize? As a hard-working physicist who spends every day trying to improve the lot of mankind, and my spare time jogging fun-runs to raise money for the town orphanage and kitten hospital, I need some light entertainment from time to time to help myself relax. I'm not one of those intense guys who would treat this game as a deep tactical simulation, a tool to help him prepare for future battles against the forces of justice or to replay failed conflicts over and over in an obsessive study of humiliating defeat. That's just not me! But I love painting up the models, as I find it helps my hand eye coordination and keeps me in practise when I can't spend my time tinkering with a gadget.

The only trouble might be getting the prize to me if I win. My apartment is very secluded and I don't even have a postcode. There are a lot of wolves in the area and some really overzealous hunters, so postal officers don't come my way anymore. And at this time of year the volcano can get a little restless. But don't worry. Just let me know where you live and I'll send one of my underlings... I mean, one of my lab assistants... along in the helicopter to collect the prize. You won't even have to answer the door!

Something Old and Something New

With the blog hitting the recent landmark of 100K hits (the giveaway is still going on HERE) I decided it was time I mixed things up abit. On the blog and in my personal hobby. The 'Supers' gaming will stay but other games will be added to it.

First up I have decided to return to where this blog started.......

After not playing Warmachine for a long, long time I have dug out the old army.
A lot of things were cleared out when our little boy arrived but I still have 50-60pts of Talion Charter Mercs.
To be more precise, A Pirates Life - Shae Tier 4

A great force that takes a lot of hits to take down and dishes out even bigger hits itself.
With Shae being the least played Caster of the least played Faction they are also a surprise to anybody that doesn't face them on a regular basis.
Here are my converted Privateer Nomads and the paint scheme on my Buccaneer.

The pic of the Bucc doesn't really do it justice. My best paintjob I have ever done in my opinion.

I'm going to get some practise in with this force and maybe even take it to a couple of tournaments and events.
But then what?
I want to expand with some more Jacks, Bart, Fiona, filling out the units and getting some more key Solos.
Then there's GALLEON!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!
At a push I may even grab some Searforge for Shaes new NQ Tier List.

After expanding the Mercs I want to look at the NQ Tier List for Skarre as I was given her model recently.
A mix of Merc and Cryx Pirates. I LOVE the Cryx Revenants and cant wait to get my hands on some.
Im already sure that this will lead onto a full Cryx Pirate force with Blackbanes, Black Ogrun, Epic Skarre, Satyxis, Terminus and Crab Jacks.

MAYBE after that I might look at Hordes again.
I did have a Blindwater Gator force but I lost interest in them after a while. That was before the new additions in Domination though.
If I do go for Hordes it will be a return to the Blindwater Gators and the addition of Thornfall Farrow.

But for now its pirates all the way.

Then theres the something new......

I tried to get into Malifaux a while ago with a Dreamer / Lord Chompy Bits crew.
I collected EVERYTHING they could have. Including the nightmare additions. But I soon discovered they were a very tricky crew to learn with.
This put me off the game and the crew was sold in what has come to be know as 'The Great Purge'

I recently started going to a local store called the Giants Lair. They have a regular (Rich) who is a Malifaux Henchman and has been trying to talk me into trying the game out again.
Still unsure on it, Rich offered me a full crew in trade for afew models I was getting rid of anyway.Ok, I'm in!

And this is where I will begin.

A good solid base to learn and play according to the Henchman.
I had a look at the other models in the Outcasts range and with abit of helpful advice I have decided to add a couple of options to play about with and swap in and out.
Student of Conflict (meant to be a great addition)
Hamelin (has my families dog)
Sue (who can say no to a flaming guitar?)
Hans (meant to be another great addition)

From this start I will get as many games in as I can and she how I get on with the game and the crew.
It may just end there! But, and theres always a but, What if it doesn't?
What if I end up really liking the game?
Will I get more Outcasts? Move to another Faction? (I like the look of the Arcanists and Neverborn)
Who knows? Only time will tell I guess.
